On December 19, 2004, about 20 of us went caroling in a local Bealeton neighborhood. We also went to the Sheetz gas station. It was a freezing evening, sleet and snow was coming down, but our caroling group was warm with excitement. Why? Through donations of members of Soul Purpose Church, we placed $20 in each of our Christmas cards we handed out. We only asked that the recipient “pay it forward” through any creative means they desired.
We did not get to see the responses of the recipients because most ...

Daughter’s Death
My oldest two daughters became the best of friends. Something they never really had before. The move back to Virginia was so hard on them. But I recall Chelsea sending me an e-mail at work one time that said, Mom, you know how hard this move has been on Alicia & I, but, if the only good thing that has come out of this move is the fact that Alicia & I became so close, then it was ALL worth it!
The kids wanted to go to a pool hall ...

Life Change
Before Christ came into my life, I grew up not really knowing Him. Of course I knew that he saved us and rewarded us happiness in eternity but I didn’t quite understand that. My family and I were not regular churchgoers and I found church rather boring and I didn’t connect fully to what the pastor was saying in his or her sermons. I have celebrated Christmas and Easter every year of my life with presents and food with my family and friends but I didn’t celebrate the true ...

Life Change
Before knowing Christ as my Savior, I was raised in a Lutheran Church but did not know who Christ really was. When my parents separated, my Uncle Ron came and explained the Gospel in great detail to my mother, myself and my two sisters.
We accepted Christ as our Savior and attended church for many years. In the beginning of my salvation I was a devout Christian. During my High School years and a lot of my adult life I went a different direction and did a lot of sinful ...

Life Change
I was raised in a home with virtually no church background at all. My mother took us to a Catholic church a handful of times when I was very small, but I don’t remember much about it.
I was a fervent non-believer when I was in high school. I remember thinking that science would eventually come up with the answers for everything. In fact, I said as much, and declared myself an atheist, in my senior year government class. The truth is, I had never been introduced to any Christian ...

Adoption
What was your life like before you were adopted?
I was adopted when I was 4 yrs old, and I do remember the day I came over to America. However, I don’t remember anything before then. My papers state that I was abandoned as an infant. I was found and put into an orphanage, and they guessed my age to be about 6 mths. So, I don’t even know my real birthday or would never be able to find out who my biological parents are. I was severely mal-nutritioned when they ...

Single Mom
1 – My life before Christ was good for the first almost 30 years. I had been able to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a horse. I was married, had a son who is still the light of my life next to Christ, and I had actually been able to quit my job and stay home with my son, another dream. Then when my son was two, my world turned upside down. I had decided to return to church and take Chris with me. My husband decided he ...

Life Change
I was born and raised in a Christian home. My family was always very involved in church activities and my parents lived their Christian life and values at home, as well as, in the church.
Unfortunately, as a teenager I made wrong choices in friends and ended up as a rebellious teen, out to please myself and no one else. That went on until I was married. I hurt my parents deeply through my lifestyle choices, for which I will always regret.
Continuing in that wild lifestyle, marrying too young, having ...

True Worship
I became a Christian in high school. I came from a family that never went to church, and I knew almost nothing about Christianity, and had no real interest in spiritual matters. But there was a girl in my study hall that used to read her Bible. I thought it was odd, so I asked her about it. She invited me to a non-denominational fellowship in Richmond called The Huguenot House. A few weeks later at a Thursday night Bible study, I prayed to invite Christ into my life.
I ...
